These, for us, are the perfect sailing lunch/snack. Today was blowing a steady 7 gusting 9 in the marina and I was bored so here you go – pasties!
To make 6 pasties I used one medium sized potato, 2 small carrots and 1 red onion plus 200g of beef and 2 rolls of shop bought puff pastry as well as an egg for glazing. Flavour combinations are endless, chicken & mushroom; beef and blue cheese or strictly vegetarian. Method and cooking time remains the same, fill ya boots 🙂
A little patience required to dice carrots; onion and potatoes. Season with salt and pepper. In a separate bowl finely dice your choice of protein, I used beef, season well then add a good dash of Lea & Perrins and a tblsp of plain flour.
Again I cheated on the pastry, so unroll the puff pastry and place a small amount of veg and meat on each one. Add a little diced butter. Egg glaze the pastry and crimp it together.
Bake at 180 degrees for 40 mins. After 35 mins turn them over to avoid a soggy bottom… Cook for a few minutes extra if they’re not browned to your liking.
